"Edward Albee was very specific about the beach. He said it should look like a beach, they should look like lizards, but he doesn't tell you how to do it... It was important that it was taller in the back so the lizards could come over, and basically that was it. We had to work out where and how they were going to move around the set. We ended up cheating, some little steps into the sand that we hid with the beach grasses. It was definitely not an easy set to perform on. It was all carved out of Styrofoam. We brought the actors in to test it. With the actors' input we worked out how they would get around. " MICHAEL YEARGAN, 'SEASCAPE'
