| The design for this show called for 3” diameter bamboo, in curved sections with a metallic finish. We started with a straight section of bamboo and with clay increased the detail of the natural growth joints to give it an enhanced look, so it is recognized as bamboo. |

| We then made a silicone mold of the straight section. This section was cast in Smooth On’s Task 15, then bent to the correct diameter and allowed to cure. We then made a silicone mold of this curved piece. This mold was created with the ability to hold a curved aluminum tube in the center of the new casting. To produce the finished parts, both straight and curved parts were cast in 20 pound density urethane foam with an aluminum tube set in the center to provide additional structure and connections. The completed parts were then finished in metallic aluminum paint. If we were producing this job today, we would use a LuminOre metal finish and provide a real metal look. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
