The Harrah’s job came to us when another shop failed to complete the project. We received a set of silicone molds in GFRG mother molds. We built covers for these molds and test-cast a set of parts in 3-pound density foam, so that we could see what the molds would produce.

The architect for the project found these initial castings completely unacceptable and determined that the entire project would need to be re-sculpted, molds made and all castings completed for assembly on site. Unfortunately there was only about 10 weeks remaining until the fast approaching delivery deadline. All work was completed in that time frame, and these arches were the crowning touch.

There were two parts to this job. One - the arch covers which provided detail and covered the structural steel. These arch covers were built as wood models, silicone molds made, and then they were sprayed in FRP (fiberglass).

The second part was to provide the elaborate scroll work that was attached. These scrolls were cast in high density urethane foam with steel reinforcing for internal structure and attachment.
