Earthane

EARTHANE is our own, water “blown” urethane foam product. In place of chemical blowing agents like “Freon” and other highly reactive materials, EARTHANE uses water to make it turn from a liquid to a foam. The resin component is sugar based and a solid step in the direction of plastics made from renewable resources. EARTHANE is spray applied for current construction applications and for some theater, display and other applications. In our shop, we use EARTHANE to cast objects, composite cores, provide structural support and a variety of other applications. Earthane can be formulated for spray or poured application in a variety of densities from about 2 pounds per cubic foot to about 50 pounds per cubic foot. Properties vary from a rigid foam insulation to a structural foam that can be machined with metal working tools.
